Tom is an architect & urban planners using open data, api’s & IoT solutions to create more social, sustainable & resilient cities. In 2010 he founded Tapp, an award winning smart city design agency enabling local governments and industries to become leaders in the bottom up digital revolution. Using agile and lean start-up methodologies, he works with public and private partners to rapid prototype civic tech solutions that solve urgent urban dilemmas.

Prachi Jain is a UX design leader and creativity coach with more than 15 years of industry experience. Currently she is working with Philips Healthcare, leading UX design strategy for Diagnostic Imaging solutions. Currently, she leads a high performing team of User Experience Designers, Usability experts and Visual Designers to create innovative solutions in context of the users’ needs and changing healthcare approach. She works in collaboration with clinical experts to empathise and create user centric design. She works very closely with the marketing and development team to create feasible and viable health care solutions as she strongly believes in teaming up early for better usability and value of the solution. Her previous experience includes working for Smart cities, Smart buildings and Smart home solutions with Honeywell labs. She has also led design solutions for cross industries and multiple geographies while working at Infosys Technologies Ltd.

She has also developed and delivers several design workshops for students and professionals at various levels on a pro bono basis.

Prachi holds Masters in communication and information design from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and Bachelors in Architecture from GCA Lucknow. She is currently pursuing her doctoral program(part time) from IIT Dhanbad in the field of Smart Cities and associated user interface design strategies.

Dan is the Strategy and Partnerships manager for the Smart Cambridge programme, set up to explore how data and emerging technology can help address the challenges that Cambridge and the wider county face such as congestion, poor air quality, infrastructure constraints and the creation of better places. Funded by the Greater Cambridge Partnership the programme has trialled new sensors technologies, networks such as Lora/Sigfox and now 5G, built data infrastructure and tools to primarily support a move to sustainable modes of transport.

Dan has led on the development of autonomous vehicle pilot which launches shortly in the city. The programme recently received funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to expand the work started in Cambridge out into the market towns across Cambridgeshire. The programme is highly collaborative and has worked extensively with the University of Cambridge, local businesses and local communities.

Engineer, innovator and internationally recognized expert in advanced technologies, Frantz has over 21 years of experience in the electronics and automotive sector, with specialized knowledge in automotive, autonomous driving, AI, IoT, and automation applications, in addition to business and product development, applications engineering, global sales, and marketing. A dedicated entrepreneur and philanthropist, he is also co-founder of Groupe 3737, an incubator and innovation center that houses more than 30 companies and start-ups, in addition to offering a framework for ideation to revenue generation.

Frantz joined LeddarTech in September 2017, having previously served as VP and General Manager of the Automotive and Industrial Division of Integrated Device Technology (NASDAQ: IDTI), a California-based company specializing in a broad array of complete mixed-signal solutions. Prior to IDT, Frantz was President and Executive VP of Global Sales and Marketing at ZMDI AG, a global supplier of MEMs-based sensor solutions for automotive and industrial applications, which was acquired by IDT in December 2015. Prior to ZMDI, Frantz was CTO and Corporate VP of Technical Marketing and Advanced Engineering Group at Future Electronics, a global distributor of semiconductors and passive, interconnect, and electromechanical components.

Throughout his career, Frantz has produced numerous patents and technical innovations. He also founded and co-founded many successful start-ups and corporations, the likes of which include SMGT Inc., Q-Links Home Automation, Groupe Reno-Metrix, Capital Plus, and OMNI Global, and sits on several boards and advisory committees.

Frantz holds degrees in electrical engineering, business, and marketing, and is also a graduate of the MIT Sloan Engineering Fellows Program on Innovations and Global Leadership.

Michel Hepp is the Co-founder and VP of Global Sales at BehrTech; the company behind MYTHINGS, a next-generation wireless connectivity platform for commercial and industrial IoT. Michel has over 25 years of experience as a leader in the software industry at large enterprise organizations including BlueCat Networks, DataMirror and InSystems.

Responsible for the Smart City program and other major city development programs. Teppo was with Deloitte from 2002-2016, the last two years in London as a member of Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications leadership team, and before that CEO of Deloitte Finland for 12 years. Before joining Deloitte Teppo was the Nordic leader of Andersen Risk Consulting, located in Stockholm and prior to that in Helsinki and London. 

Leonie van den Beuken is an urban development expert. Driven to create social value and convinced that only by working together across boundaries we can create smart and liveable cities and regions for all. She now works as a program director for Amsterdam Smart City. It is an independent innovation platform accelerating transitions in order to create a liveable metropolitan region. The public private partnership, connected with NGO’s and citizens, searches for innovative solutions for social, economic and ecological problems that affect the metropolitan region.

For almost 30 years, Dr. Jonathan Reichental has been successfully helping organizations leverage the value of information and communications technology to solve business problems, increase effectiveness, and support revenue growth. He has experience in both the private and public sectors. He spent almost 15 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in a variety of technology-related roles including leading technology innovation by delivering specific expertise in emerging technologies and the impact of macro trends such as demography on organizational success. In 2017, he was named one of the top 100 CIOs in the world and in 2016 he was named one of the top 20 most influential CIO’s in the United States. Dr. Reichental is also recognized as a global thought leader on a number of emerging trends including urban innovation and blockchain technology.

He is currently the CEO of Human Future, a global business and technology consultancy, advisory, and education firm. He is formerly a multiple award-winning Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the City of Palo Alto, focusing on modernizing the technology environment, implementing enhancements to the citywide SAP implementation, and pushing the boundaries of innovation in local government such as open data and broader civic participation through mobile devices. Under Jonathan’s leadership, Palo Alto has been named one of the top 5 digital cities in America four years in a row, including the top spot in 2013.

Prior to joining the City, Jonathan served as CIO of O’Reilly Media, an integrated media company. During his tenure he led the successful technology effort to deploy a new global ecommerce platform, enhanced the Oracle financial system, completed and maintained PCI-compliance, implemented an IT governance process, and made several strategic upgrades to the network infrastructure.

Jonathan was awarded the distinction of being one of the 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers in Government in America in 2013.  He also won a best CIO in Silicon Valley award and a national IT leadership prize. He has also recently been named the top social government CIO on Twitter and his blog was named one of the top 50 must-read in government.

Dr. Reichental holds several degrees including a Ph.D. in Information Systems. He informally advises several technology start-ups and is engaged in a variety of charity efforts in Silicon Valley. Jonathan is a co-founder of Code for Ireland. He is also an adjunct professor in the School of Management at the University of San Francisco, and several other universities across the United States.

Jonathan is also a highly sought-after public speaker and presents on a range of subjects which has included a TEDx presentation on the future of privacy. He is a popular writer and online host, producing several highly successful online courses with LinkedIn Learning.

Zeina Nazer (British/Lebanese) is Co-Founder of Cities Forum and Researcher at University of Southampton. Zeina has over 20 years’ of global experience in strategy, consulting, research, and platform development at firms including KPMG, Parsons and AECOM. Zeina led Advisory services for governments and major global players in Intelligent Mobility, Smart Cities, Sustainable Infrastructure, and the public sector in the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia and the USA.

After 7 years working in the USA with KPMG, Parsons, and AECOM, Zeina moved to London to support international projects including leading international consultancy work with Arcadis for M25 Design-Build Integral Demand Management. Zeina also provided support to financial design of the New Zealand Toll System project with Deloitte, supported Booz & Co in the PMO for Abu Dhabi DOT and supported in shaping the future of transport for Dubai Government. 

Zeina has a BSc in Civil Engineering from American University of Beirut, MSc in Transportation Engineering from University of Texas at Austin, MBA from the University of Chicago. She is a Professional Engineer licensed in the USA. Zeina is currently pursuing her PhD on LiDAR applications for Smart Cities at the University of Southampton.

Zeina was the chair of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Working Group TC204 WG1 on ITS Systems Architecture and served as Director on the Board of Women in Transportation (WTS) in the USA.

Wolfgang Thieme is a co-founder and the Chief Technology Officer at BehrTech, an enabler of next-gen wireless connectivity for Industrial IoT.

He has more than 12 years of experience in academic research and development; successfully innovating and implementing new technologies with commercial partners and managing development and product teams.

Wolfgang worked for over 10 years at Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS where he led the advancement of early stage technology development and technology transfer processes with a specific focus on integrated circuits, internet of things (IoT), and communication and sensor technologies. Wolfgang holds a degree in electrical engineering. While based in Nuremberg, he can often be found in Toronto, headquarters for BehrTech.

Brian has been with Milton Keynes Council since 1997, previously working for Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire County Councils.

Brian has taken up the role of leading on the development and delivery of the council’s programme of Transport Innovation, supporting Milton Keynes growth as a leading Smart City. This builds on Brian’s experience of managing the delivery of MK’s Electric Bus Project (UKs first fully electric bus service using inductive charging) and leading on the council’s Go Ultra Low cities programme – designed to increase the number of electric vehicles in Milton Keynes. The programme now includes delivering a fully electric on- demand shuttle bus service, working in partnership with Via Van.

Current activities are centred around developing 5G capability to support the city manage its growing demand for services. The use cases being trialled will look at using of city scale sensor deployment linked to a 5G enabled data hub which can provide real time data feeds to support efficient sustainable mobility, energy management and access to health care
