Dr. Chang has 30 years of transport aircraft industry optical engineering experiences. He started career at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft on 1987 with 7 years of actual in-flight, flight test engineering experience in aircraft system testing including cockpit display and exterior lighting; followed with 8 years of aircraft & automobile components and electronics system development as a director in one of the TRW Company. In year 2002, he returned back to Boeing Wichita site to continue transport airplane modification program on 747 & 767. His experiences not only in technical engineering but also FAA certification process of TC, ATC and STC. He is the first engineer apply LED exterior lighting to Boeing airplanes.

He has been technical and business leader in display and lighting of multiple discipline teams to provide technical approach, design solution paths, design maturity oversight in airplane and system level, product build verification, lean engineering, cost saving development, and airline customer supports. Boeing cash awards for 787 cost saving over 10 million USD in 2015. NAVAR DoD standardization special appreciation on leading NATO lighting STANAG in 2013. Recognized Silver Eagle awards on Air Force system in 2010, Winner of 2009 Boeing enterprise Special Invention Award, obtain multiple technology inventions and US patents.

Dr. Chang is currently an Associate Tech Fellow (ATF) of Boeing Commercial Airplane division and part of electrical electronics system. He is the SME for passenger display portal system working with LG, JDI, CSOT and AUO. The technical lead of 787 & 777X exterior lighting development working with automobile lighting to apply latest automobile application to airplane, leader of lighting strelergy of all Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and product team on applying latest thin display for future airplane systems.

His volunteer work not only mentoring young Boeing engineers from US, China, South Korea and India but also a Boeing Enterprise Tech Fellow liaison for Society of Asian Scientist & Engineer (SASE), visiting professor of University, Board member of OLED Korea, SAE, IES board member and President of the Chinese American Aerospace Engineering Association (SCAAE) in Seattle.
