After graduating from Colorado State University, Amanda Nickels began her career with Hewlett Packard’s elite Innovation Team developing agile applications to rapidly respond to pressing business needs. Her diverse technical path has spanned from roles in DevOps, software engineering, fintech, and full stack architecture.

Amanda now serves as lead developer on Tyson’s Emerging Tech team, where she has spearheaded many successful projects designing and deploying IoT-based solutions. Her contributions have impacted organization-wide IT and OT architecture standards and she continues to play a pivotal role in positioning Tyson at the cusp of modern technology and innovation.

Arnie Kravitz is the CTO of Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM). Chuck Byers

Associate Chief Technology Officer, Industrial Internet Consortium

Charles C. Byers is Associate Chief Technology Officer of the Industrial Internet Consortium. He works on the architecture and implementation of edge computing systems, common platforms, media processing systems, and the Internet of Things. 

Previously, Chuck was a Principal Engineer and Platform Architect with Cisco, and a Bell Labs Fellow at Alcatel-Lucent. During his three decades in the telecommunications networking industry, he has made significant contributions in areas including voice switching, broadband access, converged networks, VoIP, multimedia, video, modular platforms, edge-fog computing and IoT.  Chuck has also been a leader in several standards bodies, including serving as CTO for the Industrial Internet Consortium and OpenFog Consortium, and was a founding member of PICMG’s AdvancedTCA, AdvancedMC, and MicroTCA subcommittees.

Chuck received his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  In his spare time, he likes travel, cooking, bicycling, and tinkering in his workshop. He holds over 110 US patents.

Dr. Richardson has her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology, M.S. degrees in Applied Physics and Materials Science and Engineering from Harvard University and Stanford University respectively, and a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Dean Bartles

CEO & President, Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group

Dr. Dean L. Bartles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group which includes the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining and Advanced Manufacturing International, Inc. Previously, he was President of the National Tooling and Machining Association. Prior to that he designed and built the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of New Hampshire. 

Dr. Bartles was the founding Executive Director of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute in Chicago after working for General Dynamics Corporation for 30 years setting up and running manufacturing operations in Egypt, Turkey, and the US. He recently served as the 2016-2017 President of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute, the 2016 President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the founding Chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition.

Dr. Bartles graduated from Indiana State University earning a Ph. D. in Technology Management with a concentration in Manufacturing Systems.

Dr. Michelle Chrétien

Dr. Michelle Chrétien received her BSc in Chemistry from Dalhousie University and PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Ottawa. Her extensive experience leading applied research in 3D printing, automation, robotics, design, simulation, and printed electronics has resulted in new capabilities and infrastructure to support innovations in advanced manufacturing and beyond. Michelle is currently the Associate Vice President, Research & Innovation at Conestoga College. Previously, she was the inaugural Director of the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies at Sheridan College. Prior to joining the public sector in 2018, Michelle spent 12 years at the Xerox Research Centre of Canada in various roles including Global Program Manager (Electronic Materials), Senior R&D Manager (Materials Science), and Program Manager (Strategic Partnerships). Michelle is passionate about the commercialization of innovation and helping companies to innovate, solve problems, and achieve their business and technology goals.

Michelle has published 23 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and been granted 88 US patents on novel materials and manufacturing technologies. She has been recognized with numerous awards including the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists, the Xerox Certificate of Excellence, and the intelliFLEX Innovation Award for Women in STEM. She is also an appointed member of the Mitacs Research Council and serves as an advisor and mentor for various incubators and entrepreneurship hubs.

Dr. Steve Jia

Dr. Steve Jia is the Chief Engineer at Litens Automotive Group, Canada. He has invested more than 30 years of his professional career in Product Development, Engineering Materials, Sustainable Energy, Metal Forming, FEA, CFD, MBD, CAE, VPD and NNW Technologies. He contributed two chapters to the book, Sustainable Material Forming and Joining, published by CRC Press, New York, USA in 2019 and has published more than 30 research papers at international conferences and journals.

He was invited as a Keynote Speaker and invited speaker at several international and regional conferences, seminars, and/or webinar series. Dr Jia received his Ph.D. in Integrated Engineering and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio University, USA in 1990’s and was an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Mechanical Engineering at Ohio Northern University, Ohio, USA in early 2000 and has been a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, Canada since 1999.

Previously Ed led the Pelion Edge engineering team. Prior to Pelion Ed was Co-founder and CEO of WigWag, a startup focused on IoT gateway and edge computing technology acquired by Arm. Edoardo Gallizio

Edoardo Gallizio is a Sr. Product Marketing Manager at STMicroelectronics’ Americas Region, leading a team of Marketers and FAEs for MEMS, Sensors & Personal Electronics products and applications across North America.

Gallizio began his career at ST in 2005 in the Advanced System Technology Group. He joined the ST Audio division as Product Marketing Engineer in 2009, responsible for Japan and Japanese OEMs in South East Asia. In 2013 Gallizio relocated to the Americas region, joining the Strategic Sector Marketing team with responsibility for Wearable and IoT segment business development.

Gallizio was a voting member of the IEEE committee that defined the 802.11n specifications for MIMO WiFi. He is also a co-author of several patents in the field of digital signal processing and wireless communication.

Edoardo Gallizio was born in Savona (Italy) in 1978 and graduated from Politecnico di Milano, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Faculty in 2003 with a Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering.

She leads the COVID Information Commons (https://covidinfocommons.net) funded by NSF, providing an open resource to explore research and enable global collaboration to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Former IBM Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Internet2 Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, Special Advisor for the NSF Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, and aerospace engineer at NASA and Grumman, she Chairs the global IEEE/UL P2933 Working Group on Clinical IoT Data and Device Interoperability with TIPPSS – Trust, Identity, Privacy, Protection, Safety and Security, and has published books on TIPPSS. She serves on Boards for Princeton University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Stony Brook University, Blockchain in Healthcare Today, and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. She has a BSE in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, and executive business education from Harvard and Columbia Universities.

Hari Ambalam

Hari Ambalam is a technology leader, with over 14 years of experience in consumer appliances and automotive industries. Currently, he is the Global Engineering Sensors / Actuator, Wiring Leader at Whirlpool Corporation leading a global team that provides strategic solutions from planning a roadmap, to the execution for all cross-category appliances. He is responsible for delivering innovative, high quality and cost-effective strategies and solutions that drive business growth, in a fast-paced environment.

Prior to this role, Hari was an Electrical and Electronics systems architect accountable for developing and deploying global strategy, related to product performance, user experience and connectivity experience for the cooking platform.

Hari has an MBA from Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Dayton.

Jennifer Cohen

She has built Canadian and international partnerships with industry and academia to understand the future market needs and bring to market innovative technology solutions. Pooja first started working at Gastops ten years ago.

Her diverse career includes experience in environmental policy for aviation and management consulting. She has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Carleton University and a masters in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT. As a champion of diversity and inclusion, Pooja has founded two initiatives and contributes to several others with the goal of building a network of allies and advancing diversity in leadership in the aviation and technology sectors in Ottawa. She is a Women in Engineering ambassador at Carleton University and actively volunteers for STEM outreach programs.

Rajeev Kalamdani is a Data Science/Analytics Manager with experience in deploying AI/ML products in a global enterprise. Ryan Martin

Research Director, ABI Research

Ryan Martin is a Research Director at ABI Research covering new and emerging transformative technologies, including Industry 4.0, Digital Transformation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He currently leads the firm’s Manufacturing, Industrial, and Enterprise IoT research.

Prior to joining ABI Research, Ryan spent the past several years working at technology market research firms, including Yankee Group and, most recently, 451 Research. Before his time as a market research analyst, Ryan served as a consultant at Mobile Future Institute, a U.S.-based think tank focused on business strategies and marketing tactics for the mobile ecosystem. Sai Yamanoor

Senior IoT Application Engineer, Linde

Sai Yamanoor has over 6 years of experience as an embedded systems expert and currently works for Linde in Buffalo, NY. He currently works on IoT system design, testing and deployment. He is a co-author of two books on the use of Raspberry Pi to execute DIY projects, and he has also presented a Personal Health Dashboard system at Maker Faires across the country.

Saiman Shetty

Technical Program Manager, Nuro

Saiman Shetty helps build robots! He was part of the Manufacturing Automation team at Tesla, and the Autonomous Vehicle Hardware development team at Lyft. His current job role involves helping build autonomous delivery robots at Nuro, based in the US.

Saiman received his Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Arizona State University, and comes from a technical background of Control Systems Engineering.

Sebastien Christian

Engineering Director, Analog Devices

Sebastien has spent the last 20 years designing and bringing to market products solving sensing interpretation challenges. After 3 MS degrees and 4 successful companies founded, Sebastien is now spending his time in Analog Devices working on addressing Quality Control challenges in manufacturing. He is heading the release of dedicated AI-driven sensing interpretation systems improving product quality and process efficiency, from stamping press operations to robotic assembly to EOL Quality Control, anywhere there is sensing involved and defects to detect.

Snita Menon

Sr. Engineering Manager, Electronics Research & Development, Whirpool

At Whirlpool, Snita Menon started by leading a team of engineers to design sensor based control algorithms for various home appliances to enhance features and functionality. In her current role, Snita’s team is responsible for the complete integration of electrical, electromechanical components into dishwashing applications across the globe.

Prior to this, Snita worked at Cummins Engine Company for about 9 years in the Engine controls department, and the application for Off Highway Engines. She was also part of defining emission control strategies for Heavy Duty and High horsepower applications.

Snita completed her Masters in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Kelley School of Business (Indiana University).

Srikanth Chandrasekaran

Senior Director, IEEE / Foundational Technologies Practice Lead, IEEE-SA, IEEE

Srikanth Chandrasekaran has been associated with the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) and the IEEE India office for the past 8 years as a Sr Director, with a global focus on Foundational Technologies practice. In this role, he is focused on identifying and growing standardization programs in IoT/Smart Cities, Sensors, Blockchain and AR/VR focused around developing end-to-end trustworthy systems. Sri also heads the standardization activities for IEEE SA for the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining IEEE, Sri was associated with Freescale Semiconductor Inc. (formerly Motorola Inc.) for 18 years, managing a global Electronic Design Automation R&D team focused on modelling of mixed signal designs and Electro-magnetic compliance for Freescale products.

Sri received the Accellera Technical Excellence Award in 2009 for his leadership and contributions to design automation standardisation activities. Under his tenure, GWD grew from a self-funded start-up to 184 on the INC 500 as the largest Master Dealer for AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint. 

Earlier in his career, Brumer founded and served as CEO of Wireless Data Corp, and has held various executive management positions at Millicom, RAM Mobile Data and BellSouth Wireless. 

Steve Serra

VP, Product & Innovation, Raytheon Technologies

Steve Serra was appointed Vice President of Product & Innovation within the Raytheon Technologies Digital Technology group in October 2017.

In his leadership role at the Brooklyn DX (Digital Accelerator), Serra oversees the Product team and partners with the heads of Data, Design and Software to define RTX’s digital best practices. The DX’s 150-plus staff partners with RTX’s business units to drive innovation, collaboration and business efficiency.

Before joining the Fortune 50 company, Serra worked as a consultant at digital and innovation agencies like Huge and Frog Design where his practice focused on setting digital transformation, innovation and digital product strategies with large, global clients.

At Huge, Serra established the Business & Product Innovation practice and led broad, enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives that helped bring a user-centric perspective to strategic planning activities. He guided such efforts at United Technologies, Thomson Reuters, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Enel.

At Frog Design, Serra led global client partnerships, managing multiple concurrent initiatives in the San Francisco, Austin, New York, Milan, Munich and Shanghai studios. Frog was a key partner in several large digital transformation initiatives.

Urvashi Shah

This research was partially supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She joined Stanley Black and Decker after completing her research with SUNY Research Foundation in 2015

Vijay Yalamanchili

Engineering Specialist – Analytics, Caterpillar

Vijay is an Engineering Specialist with the IIoT Analytics group in Caterpillar with over 10 years of industry experience in Heavy Machinery & Aerospace. In his current role, he leads the development of physics based analytical models for condition monitoring of mining and construction machinery using telemetry data. In his previous role, he led the development of multiple ML based algorithms for machine usage classification.

His career includes extensive experience in engineering simulation, optimization and automaton. Vijay has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University and a Master’s degree from University of Florida specializing in optimization. He is passionate about science & technology and enjoys applying cutting-edge techniques to solve engineering problems.
